This piece marks a new exploration into sculptural form. It was shaped by hand from Elm rather than turned, allowing the structure to develop more freely. I selected the timber for its vertical strength and worked it gradually, refining the silhouette without overworking the surface.

The fabricated steel base was made to support the height without competing with the wood. I adjusted the relationship between timber and steel steadily until it felt balanced, integrated and resolved.
